Terms & Conditions

By enrolling in any of The Chemistry Program services, the Parent/Guardian and Student is deemed to have read and agrees to the following Terms and Conditions. Reference to 'The Tutor' refers to Heather Andrews, 'Student' any participant of the services, 'Parent/Guardian' the responsible adult of any 'student' under the age of 18 years. Where the 'Student' is over the age of 18, the Student takes full responsibility for areas acknowledged by the parent/guardian. 

1. Courses, Workshops & Tutorials 

The Chemistry Program operates an educational service providing 1-1 and group courses and workshops online via Zoom. The Tutor aims to provide services in accordance with the description for each course to the best of their ability. Parent/Guardian acknowledges the responsibility of paying for the services offered by The Chemistry Program according to the terms stipulated at the checkout.  By signing up to any group course or workshop, the Parent/Guardian and Student give permission for sessions to be recorded and that recordings may be shared with other participants of the course including Parents/Guardians of participants. Where tutorial recordings are used for marketing or media, participants will be anonymised where possible. 

2. Refunds

The Chemistry Program has a non-refundable policy for all products and services it offers. Any alterations to pre-booked tutorials are made at the discretion of 'the tutor'. In the event of cancellation by 'the tutor', a refund will be offered if a mutually agreed alternative date cannot be fulfilled.  

3. ​Obligations of the tutor

  • the Tutor undertakes to do all preparation prior to lessons and to structure lessons in such a way as to optimize time to the benefit of the Student;

  • the Tutor is not obliged to execute homework or assignments on behalf of the Student, however, they shall do their best to explain the material duly to enable the Student to do his/her homework properly;

4. Obligations of the student

  •  the Student undertakes to assist the Tutor in identifying problem areas in which the Student needs specific tutoring;

  • the Student undertakes to actively participate in tutorials with both microphones and  webcam activated throughout the duration of the tutorial (unless otherwise agreed)

  • The Student agrees that assignments, exercises or homework are integral part of tutoring and undertakes to complete such work properly and timely;

  • The student agrees to follow the experimental protocol agreement for any experiments during tutorial time;

 â€‹5. Safeguarding​

  • Parents/Guardians acknowledge and consent to the Students participation in online learning, including communication on a designated Facebook group where appropriate.

  • In programmes where a designated Facebook group is created for Student and Tutor to facilitate communication related to the online learning program, Parents/Guardians consent to the Student's participation in the Facebook group and acknowledge that it will be monitored for appropriate conduct.

  • Any communication or interaction outside of the official Facebook group or tutorials, including private messages or other social media platforms between participating students, is not the responsibility of The Chemistry Program.

  • Participants are encouraged to report any concerns related to safety, well-being, or inappropriate conduct to the Tutor. Reports will be handled with due care, and appropriate action will be taken promptly.

  • The Chemistry Program endeavours to adhere to the privacy of participants personal information in accordance with the privacy policy.

  • All participants, including Students and Parents/Guardians, are required to acknowledge receipt and understanding of this privacy policy.

  • The Tutor agrees to ensure they hold an up-to-date enhanced DBS throughout the duration of Services.

  • The Parent/Guardian shall have access to the Online conferencing service details for each tutorial between the Tutor and the Student and shall be able to attend any tutorial at their full discretion.

6. Code of conduct

 All participants, including Student, Tutor and Parent/Guardian, are expected to adhere to a code of conduct that promotes respectful and constructive communication, this includes but is not limited to tutorials, courses , workshops, emails and social media channels associated with The Chemistry Program. Any behaviour deemed disrespectful or hateful  by the Tutor will result in the immediate withdrawal of access to services without refund and no future participation will be allowed. 

7. Guarantees

The Tutor makes no guarantee of specific academic outcomes or grades of the Student. 

8. Marketing 

The Parent/Guardian and Student agree to the use of tutorial images, emails, comments and other forms of media to be used for any marketing purposes deemed suitable by The Chemistry Program. Names and Images of Students faces will be anonymised unless written consent is obtained. 

9. Termination 

Either party may terminate tutoring services with written notice. The tutor reserves the right to terminate services immediately in cases of serious misconduct or violation of these terms. 

10. Dispute resolution 

 If a dispute arises during or after the term of this Agreement between the Parties, they shall agree to negotiate amongst themselves, in "good faith", before any litigation.

11. Changes in terms and conditions 

These terms and conditions may be updated from time to time. Participants will be notified  of any changes, and continued participation implies acceptance of revised terms. 

12. Governing Law:

This agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
