Hello!
I'm Heather Andrews
Chemistry tutor, examiner, runner,
globetrotter, coffee addict & movie buff
A little bit about me....
I studied at the University of Liverpool qualifying with a 1st class Master's degree in chemistry with a year in industry. After volunteering for a charity in South Africa as a monitoring & evaluation intern and netball coach, I worked as a teacher of chemistry, sixth form tutor, netball coach and mental health first aider for 3 years at a large independent boarding school, where I gained a PGCE in secondary chemistry education. Following a move to Northumberland in 2021, I switched from teaching in the classroom to being a full-time online chemistry tutor.

When I'm not tutoring or creating content, I love putting on my trainers, listening to a podcast, and running around the beautiful Northumberland countryside. When they say the north is cold, I can certainly vouch for that, so when I'm not on an overseas adventure, I'll be cosied up under a blanket watching movies - Top Gun: Maverick has to be the movie of the year!

What inspires me to tutor?
In school I hated Maths, I couldn't do it, my attitude - "I will never be good at maths". In the 8 weeks leading up to my GCSE exams, Helen, a family friend and maths teacher, tutored me, unlocking something in my brain I never knew I had. From a predicted D grade to a B on results day, I was ecstatic and was so inspired, I took Maths A-level, gaining another qualification with the help and support from my new & inspirational Maths teacher Mr Berry.
I didn't so much need a tutor to improve my skills, I always had the ability, it the transformation in my attitude and the gaining confidence in myself and believing I could do maths that really made the difference and did shape my life, even if I didn't realise it at the time. The right tutor did that for me, what could it do for you?
